The National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists, Inc.  is a not-for-profit credentialing agency that has provided certification for the Orthopaedic Technology profession since 1982

NBCOT serves the public by developing, administering, and constantly reviewing the certification process that reflects current national standards for competentency and practice in Orthopaedic Technology.

Immigrants to the United States, including orthopaedic surgeons, should be aware that employment as an orthopaedic technologist in an American hospital, orthopaedic office or clinic must be acquired before you can sit for the OTC® examination. The NBCOT is not set up to assess foreign credentials before you arrive in the United States. The NBCOT is not a training school nor an employment agency.
