How to verify a credential holder
Important Notice Regarding NBCOT Certification and Misrepresentation
To avoid certification misrepresentation and/or misuse matters , it is prudent, and therefore highly recommended, that all interested parties contact the NBCOT in order to verify OTC and/or OT-SC certification(s). We encourage interested parties to contact the NBCOT office in a timely manner, to determine the current certification status of an individual using the NBCOT credential. Please note the following receipt of information that an inappropriate or unauthorized use of the NBCOT credential(s) may have occurred, the NBCOT will determine if responsive action(s) will be taken.
Verification of Credential Holders for the Public:
Verification of an individual's Orthopaedic Technologist Certified (OTC ® ) or Orthopaedic Technologist - Surgery Certified (OT-SC ™) credential is available to all interested parties.
If you wish to obtain verification of a credential holder status, please call the office at: 866-466-2268 during normal business hours.
Verifications to the public is free.
Verification of Credential Holders for Employers/Credential Services and Medical Staff Offices:
The National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists, Inc. does not provide verbal/email verifications to Employers, Credentialing Services or Medical Staff Offices. Please use the Official Fax Verification Request Form posted below. Fax Verification is used to check certficant status only. This service is no charge.
If you wish to obtain an Official Verification Letter from the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists, Inc. , this certification information is reported on official NBCOT letterhead and carries the official stamp of the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologist, Inc. The Official Letter Verification Form is posted below.
There is a fee for an official letter which is outlined in the Official Letter Request Form (see below)
All official letter verifications will include any Disciplinary Actions on file, as well as general status information.
Verification Fees
There is No Charge for a Fax Status Verification.
The fee for an Official Stamped Letter is $50.00. It is sent directly from the NBCOT to the addressee (e.g., regulatory entity, credentialing agency, employer).
Payment may be made be group check, bank check, money order or credit card (Mastercard or Visa ONLY).
- There is a $40.00 fee for any returned check. Requests submitted without the required fee will be returned. Please allow ten (10) Business Days for Official Letter verification and processing.
